St. Louis

9/6 was our last night on the road.  We drove to St. Louis and stopped to have a look around.  We got settled in at the hotel and then walked down to the arch.  We figured we would do the arch thing and then walk around St. Louis.  Well… it turns out that the Arch is a National Monument.  From the outside you see a quiet little park and a big arch sculpture.  To get inside you go into a tunnel underneath.  You have to go through security before going inside.  It was like airport security.  They made us take off our belts and put our purses through the x-ray machine and walk through metal detectors.  I thought Mr. Hip Hop in line in front of us was going to loose his pants.  Anyway, we get inside and there is a huge visitor center underground!  There are two gift shops and a good sized Western Expansion museum.  Boy, was it crowded!  We had to wait an hour and a half to go up in the arch.   It was worth it!  I got some lovely pictures of St. Louis at night.

After our Arch Adventure it was dark, we were both tired and hungry.  We went back to the hotel for yummy dinner at the hotel restaurant.  Eric got a bottle of Prosecco to go, and we drank most of it in the jacuzzi in our room.  The rest we finished off for breakfast.

What a nice park. You would never know there is a huge visitor center underneith.
