Metamora

It was a lovely day today.  Temperatures in the upper 70’s.  We took the dogs for a nice long walk then headed off to Metamora.  We went up Colerain and then took Brookville-Cincinnati Road, then on to Metamora.

Metamora is an historical little town.  The Erie Canal used to run through there.  Now there is a remnant of the canal, complete with locks.  You can ride a canal boat pulled by horses while they tell you about the history of the town.  There is also an historical grist mill that is still working, and you can buy freshly ground corn meal there.  All along canal street are historical buildings now occupied by antique shops and boutiques.

Metamora, with it's ducks and canal is a popular motorcycle destination.

Shops line canal street

The only boat on the canal now carries passengers rather than freight

We had a charming lunch at The Road Less Traveled Cafe.
